Music is an art form, like art, design, and drama.
All art forms are organized into a system of “elements“.
This classification allows us to define, describe, analyze and create art.
Different experts say there are 5, 6, 7, 8, or more elements of music. The number depends on how they organize their ideas. Nobody has the “perfect” answer; it all depends how you look at things.
In our course, we’ll look at 8 elements:
- Pitch
- Duration
- Dynamics
- Timbre
- Texture
- Form
- Tempo
- Silence
